Founder and former president of the Traces group, he is a specialist in Chemistry with a doctorate in Science Education and Philosophy. After 20 years as a lecturer-researcher at the Ecole Normale Superieure, he was the director of ESPCI ParisTech's  Pierre-Gilles de Gennes Espace des sciences, before he was appointed in August 2014, as a rector for the High Pedagogical School of the counties of Berne, Jura and Neuchâtel, in Switzerland.
An associate researcher at the LDES (Laboratory for the Science of Education and Epistemology) (Geneva University) and at the IHPST (Institute for History of Philosophy of Science and Techniques) (Paris University I), his research concerns the learning process, the notion of comprehension in science and the relationship between nature, chemistry and society.
He is also chairman at the Atomes Crochus association which he founded in 2002, specialising in innovation in the communication of experimental sciences and sustainable development through an exploration of the relationship between arts and science and the dialectics between knowledge and values.

Flitting from country to country, function to function… fuelled only by his passion for a full and busy life!
